DIY inspiration: Statement Necklaces

I've been wanting to make some STATEMENT NECKLACES lately, and I have some ideas but today I'm going to go out and scour for some supplies. Meanwhile, here are four AMAZING tutorials that are definitely inspirational. I especially want to try out #2 and #3 (the spray-painted rhinestone necklace & the feather necklace). Looking at these projects just spurs me even more on a CRAFTING CRAZEEEEEEEE....

These necklaces definitely make a statement and will probably become striking conversation starters!

DIY: Ferrero Rocher Jewelry Boxes

Since it's the season of getting a tonne of ferrero rocher chocolates, you might as well put that leftover box to good use. To be honest, it's a pretty nice plastic box. The one I have comes with a triangle-patterned cover and is perfect for storing some of my chunkier and fancier necklaces and bracelets. I don't know if this really constitutes as a DIY since you don't actually have to DO anything besides placing your jewelry into the box... HAHA. But I did fold a thick piece of black felt and place it on the bottom of the box for extra padding so that the jewelry wouldn't slide around. You could also use black velvet for a fancier look. So there you go... who needs to actually buy an expensive jewelry box!?!



Some other ferrero rocher boxes (usually the ones with multiple layers of chocolates) come with a golden tray that has multiple compartments. This is perfect for storing rings and small earrings. My mom actually does this with her rings, and it keeps everything separated and organized.

These jewelry organization ideas are great for me since I tend to always lose my rings. Now I have no more excuse for misplacing things.

 But I do have a new excuse for buying more ferrero rochers...

shoelace jewelry

I've been very busy lurking around Hong Kong malls during the past week, but I've also been itching to create stuff. So yesterday when there was a huge sneakers sale at a local mall, I picked up a few brightly-coloured shoelaces in the hopes of making something random! I ended up braiding some bracelets for my cousins and a necklace for myself.

Here I am working diligently and spinster-like in the corner of a doctor's waiting room.

And... here's my finished shoelace necklace! I dunno, it probably looks kinda weird and tacky but oh well... I was bored and braiding shoelaces helped me pass the time. At any rate, I think this would make a good craft for kids! haha.
