PHOTO of the DAY: thrifting in HK!

Today, my friend and I were near the Tsim Sha Tsui area and we found a thrift store!! It's the first real one I've been to since coming to Hong Kong (which means I've gone a whole year of my life without stepping into a thrift store...!??!?!?). It was interesting - the styles are quite different from the usual Value Village I frequent in Canada... and this particular store was actually pretty pricey for a thrift store (I guess shopping in Hong Kong is ridiculously cheap to begin with, so the prices at this thrift store were actually around the same price as new clothes!).

Even though I didn't get anything, I had so much fun rummaging through all the racks and lurking around every corner of the store. My friend found a nice DKNY denim button-up shirt for around $15CDN. Hurrah for good deals!

And... here is the photo of the day... of me trying to squeeze through the racks. My arm looks mightily mangled! But I was mightily ecstatic to have a chance to go thrifting! =)

PHOTO of the DAY: Indian at Heart

Last month, I was talking to one of my friends and she told me she was going to a Bollywood Dance class. I LOVE Indian culture (AND FOOD) so when I expressed my immediate excitement, she invited me to try the class out. So with my other adventurous friend, Miss Alice in Wonderland, I set out to try my very first Bollywood dance class. It was actually the last lesson for that term so everyone had already been learning the dance for months and we were CLEARLY first-timers. We weren't even prepared with gym clothes since we had come straight from work. Haha. Thick twill pants aren't exactly the most flexible or ideal workout wear.

Obviously I do not have any pictures of us dancing (nor would I post such atrocities) but it was pretty hilarious because we had no idea what we were doing. I felt like Mr. Bean when he's just put himself in an awkward situation and he does a silly and utterly pathetic dance which only increases the awkwardness. That was us at this dance class. HAHAHAHA. Meanwhile, all the middle-aged Asian ladies were dancing perfectly to the choreography.

I have to say, it was really fun. To all my Indian friends, you must teach me more dance moves because all I've got for reference is this.

PHOTO of the DAY: potato & donut

About a month ago, I started searching for a small backpack. When I saw this one from BAGGU, I  was immediately drawn to it since it reminded me of a POTATO SACK and anything potato is good-to-go. However, I decided to wait before making an impulse buy (also because I had sudden DIY thoughts of whether I could actually make my own backpack out of a potato sack...). When I went back the next week to get it, it was... GONE!

Well as you can see from the picture below you already know that I finally did find the backpack after a month (or it just so happened that they were re-stocked haha). Don't you just LOVE those moments when you find something that you've been looking for after searching for ages and there's only ONE LEFT? This potato and I were meant to be.

Oh and since I can't resist food plushies (or FOOD in general for that matter), I had to buy that stuffed-toy DONUT as well. It's actually a PET TOY with a squeaker, but I'm sure humans can play with it too!! haha... (same goes for dog food...) just kidding.
Oh and of course, food always looks better with a face... so I gave Mr. Donut here a little personality...

PHOTO of the DAY: Free Stuff

I love FREE STUFF, like everyone else on the planet, so when I saw little toddlers getting free Pikachu hats from McDonald's, I knew this big kid needed one too.

Later, we were walking around outside with the hats and these two little kids started following us and making pokemon actions and noises. So we gave them the hats and obviously they instantly became the coolest kids on the playground.

PHOTO of the DAY: Biggy the Bear

So awhile back, I attempted to start a tumblr account where I posted a picture a day... key word being ATTEMPTED... because after a few weeks I had evidently slacked off and abandoned the idea altogether. HAHA. Great perseverance on my part. Well anyway, I have all these really random pictures on my camera that have no place to go so I thought I'd just start uploading them here to give them a home other than having them lost and lingering in the dark lairs of my SD card.

I'm going to try and occasionally post a picture or two and hopefully it will be somewhat interesting. Usually I bring my little red camera with me just in case there's something awesome, creepy, out-of-the-ordinary, or utterly hilarious to capture evidence of.

Speaking of HILARIOUS, I keep seeing this little old woman (who has curly grey hair in the same shape as an Oompah Loompah wig) on my morning walk to work. She does "exercises" every morning. For example, she stands facing a giant brick wall and squats, gyrates her hips, and does a couple pelvic thrusts, all done vigorously and without shame. This woman is fearless. Whenever I see her, I always want to laugh and congratulate her for being awesome at the same time. I know this is probably one of those "you have to see it for yourself" moments, but no, I didn't take picture evidence of her although it would be pretty good viral-video fodder.

Anyway, TODAY's Photo of the Day is of the biggest bear I've ever seen, at one of HK's newest malls. I wanted to climb up and sit on its head, but I guess those kind of psychotic urges are exactly why there's a red line and no-touching zone.
